We're committed to engaging our listeners to make a difference in their communities, through the unique power of our radio brands
At Global, we engage our listeners with a passion. But that passion goes much deeper than just radio, music and entertainment - which is why our Global Charities & Communities team are there, to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children, young people and adults in the communities we serve.
And because it's Global, we keep it simple - each of our brands has a cause or a purpose, whether it's Help a Capital Child, Have a Heart, The Classic FM Foundation or any of our other brands’ causes.
It works. Just as it does for our advertisers, Radio has the ability to inspire and move our listeners to action, which is how we’ve raised over £22m to date, which has helped 3.1m children, young people and adults.
How we raise money
We rely solely on voluntary donations and your support will enable us to make a difference to the lives of children, young people and adults throughout the UK.
Events and Challenges
If you fancy a personal challenge, why not take part in one of our runs, treks, parachute jumps or marathons? Recently we have organised treks to the Great Wall of China, Machu Pichu and helped people to run the London Marathon and The Great North Run, to name a few.
Whether it’s a commercial sponsorship of our on-air appeals or helping your staff decide on a ‘Charity of the Year’ we have exactly what it takes to create a fantastic charitable or CSR partnership for your company.
Our stations have on-air appeals where we encourage our listeners to take part in fundraising for our charities.
This can be by encouraging listeners to donate funds or by bidding for auction prizes. We engage listeners through emotive content and celebrity support.
We’re specialists in putting on Dinners, Galas and Concerts for virtually any occasion. Such as our flagship fundraiser Capital Rocks which this year raised money to help young people living with cancer.
Capital XTRA's Music Potential in partnership with Barclaycard engages 16-24 year olds, who are not in education, employment or training, in a range of music related educational activities, work experience and mentoring using the hook of urban music.
The Big Music Project
The Big Music Project is a unique £4 million initiative funded by the Big Lottery Fund. Global Radio’s Capital FM and the BPI have joined forces with youth work charity UK Youth to help young people from every corner of the UK get closer to their dream career.

How our communities benefit
The benefit to the communities we serve and the people who live in them, is enormous. Here are just some of those that we’ve helped:
Money raised by Have a Heart was used to provide 28 children's hospices with a brand new Mini. This will be used to extend the services they provide to seriously ill children & their families in their own homes.
6,500 music therapy sessions
Our Classic FM Foundation covered the cost of 6,500 music therapy sessions for vulnerable children.
16 new and refurbished cancer units
Our Help a Capital Child programme contributed to the building and refurbishing of 16 specialist units in hospitals across the UK for young people living with cancer.
Sports programmes for over 26,000 children
Help A Capital Child has also equipped and furnished a group therapy room for children who stammer, created a space that provides support, music and art activities for young carers, and developed a sports programme for over 26,000 children and young people.
