Who We Help

Global Charities & Communities supports disadvantaged children and young people across the UK, through its radio stations’ appeals.

In London 95.8 Capital FM’s Help a Capital Child & LBC 97.3’s Help a London Child provides grants to organisations in the heart of our communities. In 2010/11 a record £1.6 million was awarded to 431 charities & voluntary groups.

In summer 2011 the new Capital FM network will launch its charity partner as Help a Capital Child expands (increasing its national reach) check here for an update soon.

Have a Heart’s charity partner for 2010/11 is Children’s Hospices UK, and they provide care and support to seriously ill children and their families in their own homes.   The at hospice at home service is invaluable as it helps families through the most difficult of times in their familiar settings.

This year The Classic FM Foundation will be working with Nordoff Robbins to provide over 4,000 music therapy sessions for children living with illness, disability, trauma or isolation; transforming their lives through the power of music. Nordoff Robbins is the largest charitable provider of music therapy services in the UK, specialising in transforming the lives of individuals through the power of music. They reach out to some of the most marginalised, challenging and vulnerable children in our society and a large proportion of their work is with people who have disabilities, severe illnesses or special needs. These include communication disorders, autistic spectrum disorders, physical and/or mental health problems, learning difficulties, brain injuries, trauma through abuse, emotional-behavioural difficulties and terminal illness.
