How We Work
Global Charities is a grant giving charity and awards grants within the local area where the funds are raised according to the legal objects of our charity below:
“To relieve poverty, hardship or distress, and to promote the physical or mental welfare of children in need of care and attention, and any such other object or purpose as is charitable under the law of England and Wales”.
We are a registered Charity Number 1091657 and are governed by a Charity Board, who work closely with Global at all levels in support of our plans. The Board delegates the running of the charity to the Managing Director of Charities and his senior team, who lead a department of 20 full and part-time staff and many volunteers.
The Charities Board approve the grant decisions of our local and station grants panels and determine the overall conditions as to what the Charity will fund to ensure that the money is used in line with the Charity’s objectives and in the best interests of the intended beneficiaries.
As the largest commercial radio company in the UK we are also able to work in major ground breaking partnerships across a number of station brands. Our position also gives us major opportunities to work creatively with corporate partners .
Global Charities has been the key driver of Global’s Corporate Social Responsibility and we advise the business of their overall community plans and activities. Many of our radio stations have a strong history in producing successful social action campaigns such as Radio Aid (in aid of the Tsunami Appeal), Lights Out London, Green Month and Choice FM’s Peace on The Streets.
