Shux
London-based songwriter and producer Shux joined Global publishing in 2008.
He started out as session musician for a variety of artists in different genres. But quickly gained a reputation for the quality of his work and the passion and professionalism with which he approaches each and every engagement. He soon became the guitarist and musical director for Lily Allen, who he accompanied on her US tour in 2007.
While touring across the pond, Shux met Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco and the pair hit it off right away. Lupe asked Shux to co-write and produce the track 'Hi-Definition' for Lupe's latest album, which also features Snoop Dogg on vocals and became an instant hip-hop hit with the album selling over half a million copies to date.
Shux wrote 'Can I Begin' on Alesha Dixon's album 'The Alesha Show' which has just gone Gold!
2009 saw Shux working with a number of exciting new UK artists such as Coco Sumner (Island Records), Rox (Rough Trade) and Eliza Doolittle (Parlophone) co-writing and producing on their debut albums.
Shux also co-wrote and produced Jay-Z's ‘Empire State of Mind’ which was the Billboard Hot 100 number 1 single for four consecutive weeks and reached number 2 in the UK singles chart.
Consequently, Alicia Keys, who guested on Jay-Z's version of 'Empire State of Mind' also recorded her own, stripped down version of the song. 'Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down' was produced by Shux. This single reached number 4 in the official singles chart while her album, ' The Element of Freedom' went to number 1 in the official UK albums chart.
